Fire Bird Concept Car

The Fire Bird concept car is a hybrid vehicle that incorporates the latest technologies to increase MPG beyond ordinary expectations. Similar vehicles incorporate synchronous motors mounted at each wheel that provide independently controlled power to attain maximum traction in all weather conditions. They also include a valve system that adjusts lift according to RPM that allows the engine to literally "breath" according to need, not according to some preset amount at the factory. New vehicles include planetary drive transmissions that balance vehicle load between an electric motor and a gas motor. New technologies in battery storage provide for a lightweight battery that utilize high storage density. Higher storage density reduces weight of the vehicle, which is a key component of increasing MPG and acceleration performance. In the future, the vehicle will hopefully incorporate lithium air batteries, increasing storage density even further

With so many science and engineering hurdles to overcome, the lithium air battery is in it's infancy. Lithium in its metallic form is highly reactive with water, and even moisture contained in the air is a problem. Scientists believe that this problem can be overcome by using non-metallic lithium, instead using graphite or other material for the cathode. Another development area that needs to be addressed is the number of charges and discharges lithium air batteries can experience before losing their useful battery characteristics, such as ability to take and hold a charge, and the ability to discharge at a high current rate.

Solar power will soon be another feature of the new car, taking advantage of sunlight to charge the batteries from the environment in which the car operates. Since the sun illuminates one square meter with about 1,000 watts of energy on a sunny day, there is abundant energy to be harvested. New advances in non-crystalline photovoltaic cells that receive sunlight and convert it into electricity could mean that they will soon be mass produced on conveyor systems that literally screen print the materials right onto a substrate. The cells will then be cut to size and sealed to prevent environmental moisture, before being shipped to the car manufacturers for installation.

GM's Pontiac division produced the Firebird two door coupe for a number of years, even almost offering the F-body sportswagon. However the F-body was only produced in a few beautiful prototypes. The phoenix with its fire spirit and colorful plumes originated in many early culture mythologies, including Persian, Chinese, Egyptian, Greek and Phoenician. Thus, it was known as a fire bird of religious ceremonies. Some mythologies say that the firebird was able to change into people, but in the 20th century it became a power car, full of sleek curves and fast acceleration. In the showroom, it dazzled the eyes in a variety of colors. With 0 - 60 in 8 seconds, and a 400 cubic inch engine crammed into an engine compartment that could barely hold a six cylinder, the car was adequately powered for street drag car racing.
